Blood Glucose Explained

Blood glucose—often called blood sugar—is glucose circulating in your bloodstream. Your body uses it as an important energy source, while hormones including insulin help regulate how glucose is used and stored.

Why glucose levels change

Food, physical activity, medicines, sleep, stress and health conditions can influence glucose patterns. A single symptom or home reading should not be used to self-diagnose diabetes.

Supplements are not a substitute for care

For people with diabetes, established treatment may include medication alongside nutrition, physical activity and other lifestyle measures. NCCIH specifically cautions against replacing diabetes medicine with an unproven supplement.

Where supplements fit into our coverage

Metabolic Method evaluates supplements as consumer products and examines the evidence behind their ingredients. We do not present dietary supplements as cures or replacements for medical treatment.
